OUR COURSES

Full Paediatric First Aid Course -Two day course or Blended option

This intensive course is ideal for child carers, nannies, pre-school/nursery teachers and primary school teachers working with children age five and under. This course covers the full Ofsted Syllabus and is fully compliant with those needing to register on the compulsory Ofsted Register.

OPTION A: Two Day Practical Paediatric Course

  • Six hours per day of guided lerning hours (12 hours excluding breaks)
  • Continuous assessment throughout course by trainer
  • Multiple choice paper on completion of the course
  • On successful completion of the full course, candidates will receive a nationally recognised FAIB Paediatric First Aid certificate valid for three years.

OPTION B: Blended Course (One Day Practical + One Day Online)

  • Approox six hours of online learning via our e-learn platform prior to the practical, classroom session. It includes quizzes at the end of each topic to check knowledge.
  • Six hours of guided, classrom based learning (excluding breaks). This session will primarily cover practical topics and not all topics from the e-learning.
  • Continuous assessment throughout practical course by trainer
  • Multiple choice paper at the ecourse
  • On successful completion of the full course, candidates will receive a nationally recognised FAIB Paediatric First Aid certificate valid for three years.

Course Content:

  • Roles and responsibilites of the paediatric first aider
  • Emergency planning and First Aid kit/accident recording
  • Assessing/managing an unconscious adult, child or baby
  • CPR for adults, children and babies
  • Managing a choking adult, child or baby
  • Managing bleeding including shock
  • Head and spinal injury management
  • Allergies/anaphylaxis and auto-injector use
  • Asthma and other respiratory conditions
  • Fractures, strains and sprain
  • Seizures
  • Hypo & Hyperthermia
  • Diabetes
  • Sickle Cell, sepsis and meningitis
  • Poisoning, bites, stings
  • Objects in eyes, ears and nose
BLS/AED Update for GP Practices

This course is suitable for GPs, Nurses and non-clinical staff who are required to undertake regular CPR training.

To comply with the Resuscitation Council (UK) and CQC guidelines, all primary care organisations must ensure that both clinical and non-clinical staff can undertake cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in an emergency. The duration of the course can be adapted to meet a practice with time restraints.

Topics covered:

  • CPR/AED use
  • Unconscious casualty management (recovery position)
  • Choking
  • Management of acute anaphylaxis/auto-injector use
  • Use of Emergency Equipment (oxygen, airway adjuncts)
  • 2-3 hours (depending on time available and number of participants) of guided learning
  • Continuous assessment by trainer
  • On completion candidates will receive a Wimbledon First Aid certificate, valid for one year. CPD points will be indicated on certificate.
BLS/AED and Medical Emergencies for Dental Practices

This course is for Dentists, Dental Nurses and the entire dental team, to enable them to deal with life threatening and common medical emergencies in the practice.

In line with the Resuscitation Council (UK) and CQC Guidelines, resuscitation training should be repeated at least annually.

During this training session the emergency drugs kit and equipment will be reviewed to ensure that everything is in date and stored correctly.

Subjects covered include:

  • Basic Life Support for adults and children/AED use
  • Choking
  • Management of acute anaphylaxis
  • Use of Emergency Equipment (oxygen, airway adjuncts and emergency drugs)
  • Recognising and managing asthma attacks, diabetes, fainting, seizures and myocardial infarction.
  • Three hours of guided learning
  • Continuous assessment by trainer
  • Emergency drugs box and medical equipment will be reviewed and discussed throughout course
  • On completion, candidates will receive a Wimbledon First Aid certificate, valid for one year. CPD points will be indicated on certificate.
BLS/AED Update for Health Professionals

This course is suitable for a broad range of health professionals including Physiotherapists, Chiropractors and Chiropodists who are required to undertake regular CPR training.

All training is in line with the latest Resuscitation Council UK protocols and CQC requirements. Each course can be tailored to specific group needs, so the list of topics can be modified.

  • CPR/AED use
  • Unconscious casualty management
  • Choking
  • Management of acute anaphylaxis
  • Heart Attacks (myocardial infarction)
  • (Any additional topics required)
  • Three hours of guided learning 
  • Continuous assessment by trainer
  • On completion, candidates will receive a Wimbledon First Aid certificate, valid for one year. CPD points will be indicated on certificate.
