Our courses for schools and nurseries provide comprehensive training to meet the needs of a range of organisations to ensure the candidates are equipped and confident in dealing with emergency situations for adults, children and babies in their workplace, or in everyday life.

OUR COURSES

Full Paediatric First Aid Course -Two day course or Blended option

This intensive course is ideal for child carers, nannies, pre-school/nursery teachers and primary school teachers working with children age five and under. This course covers the full Ofsted Syllabus and is fully compliant with those needing to register on the compulsory Ofsted Register.

OPTION A: Two Day Practical Paediatric Course

  • Six hours per day of guided lerning hours (12 hours excluding breaks)
  • Continuous assessment throughout course by trainer
  • Multiple choice paper on completion of the course
  • On successful completion of the full course, candidates will receive a nationally recognised FAIB Paediatric First Aid certificate valid for three years.

OPTION B: Blended Course (One Day Practical + One Day Online)

  • Approox six hours of online learning via our e-learn platform prior to the practical, classroom session. It includes quizzes at the end of each topic to check knowledge.
  • Six hours of guided, classrom based learning (excluding breaks). This session will primarily cover practical topics and not all topics from the e-learning.
  • Continuous assessment throughout practical course by trainer
  • Multiple choice paper at the ecourse
  • On successful completion of the full course, candidates will receive a nationally recognised FAIB Paediatric First Aid certificate valid for three years.

Course Content:

  • Roles and responsibilites of the paediatric first aider
  • Emergency planning and First Aid kit/accident recording
  • Assessing/managing an unconscious adult, child or baby
  • CPR for adults, children and babies
  • Managing a choking adult, child or baby
  • Managing bleeding including shock
  • Head and spinal injury management
  • Allergies/anaphylaxis and auto-injector use
  • Asthma and other respiratory conditions
  • Fractures, strains and sprain
  • Seizures
  • Hypo & Hyperthermia
  • Diabetes
  • Sickle Cell, sepsis and meningitis
  • Poisoning, bites, stings
  • Objects in eyes, ears and nose

EMERGENCY PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID COURSE

This one day course is practical and interactive with six hours of guided learning (excluding breaks) and aims to give learner the skills, knowledge and confidence to care for a child or baby requiring first aid.  Ideal for anyone who is caring for babies or children, including parents, grandparents, nannies and aupairs.  This course can be integrated with the full Paediatric course with the learner participating in the one day practical component only.

Course details:  

  • Six hours per day of guided learning hours (excluding breaks)
  • Continuous assessment throughout course by trainer
  • On successful completion of the full course, candidates will receive a nationally recognised FAIB Emergency Paediatric First Aid certificate valid for three years.

EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK COURSE FOR SCHOOLS

This one day course is great for teachers and other staff wishing to act as an Emergency First Aider to immediately assist students, colleagues or visitors at their workplace. The course content includes adult and child first aid and meets the HSE criteria for EFAW, but with extra topics applicable to schools.  If a school has children five and under, then those staff can complete the e-learning component of our accredited paediatric course prior to attending this training session.  This will then enable them to gain the full Paediatric First Aid certification meeting the EYFS and OFSTED requirements.

Course details:

  • Six hours per day of guided learning hours (excluding breaks)
  • Continuous assessment throughout course by trainer
  • Multiple choice paper on completion of training session
  • On successful completion of the full course, candidates will receive a nationally recognised FAIB Emergency First Aid at Work for Schools certificate calid for three years.

FIRST AID AT WORK COURSE

This three day, comprehensive training course for those organisations where HSE requirements include staff trained to act as a First Aider at Work. Learners will gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to manage a wide range of first aid health professionals and/or emergency care.

Staff working with young children age five and under, can complete the e-learning component of our accredited paediatric course prior to attending this training session.  This will then enable them to also gain the full Paediatric First Aid certification meeting the EYFS and OFSTED requirements.

Course details: 

  • 18 hours of guided learning over three days
  • Continuous assessment throughout the course and two multiple choice papers
  • On successful completion of the full course, candidates will receive a nationally recognised FAIB First Aid at Work for Schools certificate valid for three years.

This Health and Safety Executive (HSE) complaint course covers:

  • Aims and principles of first aid/Role of the First Aider
  • Managing an emergency
  • Prevention of cross-infection during first aid procedures
  • CPR and use of an AED
  • Management of the unconscious casualty
  • Spinal injury management
  • Choking casualty
  • Heart Attacks (Myocardial infarction)
  • Managing a bleeding casualty
  • Major (hypovolaemic shock) and minor bleeds/wounds
  • Strokes (Cerebrovascular Accident)
  • Managing burns
  • Poisoning
  • Minor injuries
  • Epilepsy
  • Diabetes
  • Asthma
  • Management of fractures and dislocation
  • Strains & sprains
  • Legal aspects – record keeping/accident recording
FAW requalification course

This course is suitable for qualified workplace First Aiders who are within three months of expiry of their First Aid at Work Certificate.  The course gives participants the opportunity to refresh their skills and knowledge gained on their FAW course and ensures that they are brought up to date on any changes to resuscitation and first aid practice.  The course content will cover FAW course content.

Course details:

  • 12 hours of guided learning over two days
  • Continuous assessment throughout the course and two multiple choice papers
  • On successful complettion of the full course, candidates will receive a nationally recognised FAIB First Aid at Work for Schools certificate valid for three years.
cpr/aed annual update & anaphylaxis refresher course

This three hour course will give staff the opportunity to refresh their first aid knowledge, practice their resuscitation skills and bring them up to date on any changes to Resuscitation Council (UK) and anaphylaxis guidelines.  This course can be adapted to include different topics to suit each groups needs.  It’s your course!
